How to Navigate Skincare Lab: Concerns, Ingredients, Brands & the Skin Finder

Open lab journal with botanical plate, diatom and DNA notes: a guide to navigating Skincare Lab

Skincare Lab has a new look and a new logic. The shelf is still medispa-curated for sensitive and reactive skin, but the way you find things has changed: shop by concern, by ingredient or by brand, take the Skin Finder quiz for a four-step routine, and read the science behind every active before you buy. This guide walks you through every menu, page and tool, so you can get from “my skin is reacting” to “here is my routine” in a couple of clicks.

The header now has six entries. Hover (or tap on mobile) and each opens a panel with an image plate on one side and links on the other. Here is what lives where:

  • Concerns — collections built around a skin problem. Start here if you know what bothers you.
  • Ingredients — collections built around an active, in three columns: Calm & Repair, Correct & Renew, Hydrate & Regenerate.
  • Brands — K-Derma labs, European dermocosmetics and clinic-inspired K-beauty, each with a one-click filter.
  • Shop — the classic categories: serums, exosomes and boosters, daily essentials, sheet masks, eye and lip care, men’s care, gift sets, hair, bath and body, Ayurvedic and wellness.
  • The Lab Edit — the curated short list our medispa team recommends first.
  • The Science — the reading room: Skin Science explainers, the Lab Journal (this blog), The Lab Standard, Skin Finder, the Ingredient Glossary, FAQ, About and Contact.

On a phone the same menu opens from the hamburger icon; each section expands with a tap and the Skin Finder link sits at the top of Concerns so it is never more than two taps away.

Shop by concern

Most people do not shop for “a serum”; they shop for “my cheeks go red after cleansing”. The Concerns menu is built for that. Each collection fills itself from the products that match, so it stays current as the shelf changes.

Concern What you’ll find
Sensitive & Reactive Fragrance-light formulas with centella, panthenol and ceramides
Redness & Rosacea-Prone Calming, cooling, azelaic and cica-based care
Damaged Barrier Ceramide creams, low-pH cleansers, repair balms
Dry, Itchy & Eczema-Prone Rich, oat- and ceramide-based moisturizers for face and body
Post-Procedure Recovery What our clinic uses after laser, peels and microneedling
Acne & Breakouts Tea tree, BHA, blemish pads and spot care that doesn’t strip
Dark Spots & Uneven Tone Vitamin C, tranexamic acid, gentle peeling pads
Lines & Firmness Retinal, peptides, collagen and PDRN
Dehydration Hyaluronic layers, essences and toners
Puffiness & Dark Circles Eye creams, lifters and patches
Daily SPF Lightweight, no-cast Korean and European sunscreens

Every collection page opens with a short note on how we chose the products, then the filters: skin type, active, format and price. If you have more than one concern, open the one that bothers you most first; the routine you build there usually covers the second.

Skin Finder: your routine in three questions

The Skin Finder is the fastest way through the store. Pick your main concern, say how your skin reacts to new products, choose your skin type, and it returns a four-step routine, morning and night: cleanse and calm, treat, moisturize and repair, protect. It also lists the actives to look for and the ones to leave for later, which matters when your skin is reactive.

Two rules make the result work: introduce one new product every 3–5 days, and patch-test first. The quiz gives cosmetic guidance, not a diagnosis, so persistent conditions still belong with a dermatologist. Retake it when the seasons change or after an in-clinic treatment.

Shop by ingredient

If you already know which active your skin likes, the Ingredient Glossary and the Ingredients menu take you straight there. Each active has its own collection with a plain-language note on what it does, who it suits and how to layer it. The actives are grouped by job:

The glossary’s advice is the same one our team gives in clinic: start with calming and repairing actives, add correcting ones once the barrier is comfortable, one at a time, with SPF every morning.

Shop by brand

This is the part of the store we are proudest of. Nobody else puts Korean derma labs and European pharmacy brands on the same shelf, chosen for tolerance. The Brands menu is split into three columns:

Recent additions include the full VT Cosmetics Reedle Shot and PDRN line, a large Mediheal restock of serums, pads and foams, and new Abib, SOME BY MI and Centellian24 arrivals. Every brand page uses the same filters as the concern collections, so you can narrow Medicube to “oily skin, serum” in two clicks.

The Lab Edit and our team’s serums

Four clinic-shortlist serums on paper: calm, hydrate, brighten, renew

Two collections are hand-picked rather than rule-based. The Lab Edit is the short list our medispa team recommends first: one or two products per job, nothing redundant. Serums Our Team Reaches For is narrower still, the four or five serums that end up on the treatment-room tray. If you want to skip the research and buy what the professionals use, these two pages are the whole store.

The Science: explainers, The Lab Standard, the Journal

The last menu entry is the reading room. Three pages do most of the work:

  • Skin Science, Explained — interactive notebook pages on the skin barrier, exosomes, peptides, PDRN and pH. Tap the numbers, flip the switches, drag the pH slider; each topic links to the matching actives so the science turns into a routine.
  • The Lab Standard — how a product earns a place: proven actives at working levels, tolerance first, clinic logic, one clear job, authentic and fairly priced. No inflated “regular” prices; the price you see is the price.
  • The Lab Journal — this blog. Concern-by-concern guides on exosomes, PDRN, dark spots, anti-aging actives, acne, eye care, sunscreen and a glass-skin starter routine. Articles are tagged by topic, so the tags at the bottom of each one lead to its siblings.

The same menu holds the FAQ, About and Contact pages, and the Skin Finder and Glossary links again, so nothing is more than one hover away.

Search got a rebuild. Click the magnifier and, before you type, the drawer shows the actives people search most (PDRN, NAD+, exosomes…), the concern tiles, the products customers are buying this month, brand chips and five quick answers to the questions we get in clinic. Start typing and it switches to live product results. If nothing matches, the “ask our team” link at the bottom opens chat.

A few tools are easy to miss:

  • Compare — add two or three products from any collection and see ingredients, size and price side by side.
  • Wishlist — save products across sessions; the heart icon on every card adds to it.
  • Rewards — points on every order, redeemable at checkout.
  • Volume savings — automatic discounts of 5% to 15% apply as your cart grows; no code needed, the cart shows the next tier.
  • Currency — prices are set in USD and shown in CAD on skincarelab.ca; the switcher in the footer changes both currency and shipping destination.
  • Shipping — orders ship from Canada, the US and Korea depending on the product; the product page states which. The return policy and full sitemap live in the footer.

Frequently asked questions

Where did the old categories go?

They are all still there under Shop in the main menu: serums, daily essentials, sheet masks, eye and lip care, hair, bath and body, gift sets and more. Concerns, Ingredients and Brands are new ways in, not replacements.

Why do some concern collections show the same product?

Because a product can do more than one job. A ceramide cream belongs in Damaged Barrier, Dry skin and Post-Procedure. Each collection is filled by rules that read the product’s formula and title, so overlap is intentional.

Is the Skin Finder free, and do I need an account?

Free, no account, no email required. The result is shown on the page immediately.

How do I find a brand that isn’t in the menu?

Type the brand name in search, or open All products and use the Brand filter on the left. The menu lists the brands we stock most deeply, not every brand.

Do you still show “regular” prices?

No. The Lab Standard commits to a single fair price, so you will not see struck-through prices on product pages. Savings come from the automatic volume tiers and rewards points instead.

Can I get advice from a person?

Yes. Use the chat bubble, the Contact page, or visit our partner clinic IPL Lab Medispa in Montréal and Laval for a free skin consultation.

The bottom line

Skincare Lab is now organised the way a skin professional thinks: concern first, then ingredient, then brand, with the science one click away and a quiz to shortcut all of it. Start with the Skin Finder, build a four-step routine, and let the Concerns and Ingredients menus take you deeper when you are ready. For hands-on help, our partner clinic IPL Lab Medispa offers free consultations and facials that pair with your home routine.
